”Uppsala Jazz Collective är en sammanslutning som är öppen för alla som älskar jazz. Vårt mål är att göra jazzen hipp igen genom att arrangera jazzklubbar, spelningar och andra events för att lyfta fram jazzmusiken.”
With the longest rehearsals we ever had, gig every evening and lots of preparations for the first long studio day we’re pretty tired at the moment in Caius Cat. However I am at the moment at Stockholm Youth Jazz festival playing with my students in Uppsala Musikskolas Storband.
Tomorrow is gonna be competition playing with the big band and then back to the studio the rest of the day and night. So for now, I am finishing with a picture borrowed from my friends at One Touch Edit!
Hello!
I am currently working really hard to get all projects ”a float” and running. It’s a busy job setting up a Record label, Turbo Sax, as well as record, mix and produce your own recordings. We have got a tight deadline with Caius Cat trios first official record coming out in March, with a small release tour in Sweden. But already before that, before anything, I am going back to Switzerland to play a couple of gigs next week with the band. See the gig list below. I am very very excited about this week, I can’t wait!
Then we got our first international gig with SZ Conspiracy, playing at Kayak Republic in Copenhagen 21st of February!
Caius is also having a residency in Barcelona first week in May, I can imagine that will be a blast! In the meantime I am also teaching another semester, at the moment five days a week. We are in the planning of a workshop here in Uppsala for all interested music lovers, but more info will come when it’s official.
Thanks to my dear friend Johan that showed me Photoshop and made a graphical profile for me my work comes out a bit nicer, don’t ya’ll think?
Gigs in Switzerland with Caius Cat (January):
14th Jam Session, Geneva
15th Buzz Club, Lausanne
16th Diese Pub (again!), Bex
18th Cave Marignac, Geneva
This is our take of Pedro’s ”Sketches” from our show in Lausanne 28th of november.
It’s a long sax intro, and judging by my mate’s faces, they wish it was shorter. Or maybe they just wanna play?
The video is here, enjoy!

Last two weeks I’ve been busy with my official graduation from ‘Kungl. Musikhögskolan’ (Royal College of Music in Stockholm). It was a nice and kind of touching day where I met so many of those I started with four years ago. I also got a nice golden suit broch to wear on official occasions.
I also had end day at ‘Kommunala Musikskolan’ in Uppsala, where I’ve been teaching saxophone this semester. That was touching. My students have been so great and inspiring and I wish them all the best, next semester my substitution for this teacher is over and I’m gonna meet some new students.
We’ve been playing with Marie Lala on a Moxie party, and I’ve been meeting with ‘Tonight it’s at your place’ for planning the autumn. I feel it’s gonna be a great one.
My friend and colleague Pedro Martinez Maester have started working on a Swiz tour for november, I’m really excited about that! I hope I get the chance to visit my friend Bernhard as well, that would be sweet!
Tomorrow I’ve got the earliest gig in my life. Gig time, 08:00.
See ya!
The CASSETTE is finally here!
The project that started out in early 2011 and got finalized and recorded during autumn of 2011 in Denton, TX is finally done!
It started out with me and Felix Tellez going through the world of ‘free improvisation’, or Free Bag as we used to call it back in High School. This time around we worked hard and consistently of trying different ideas, entries and mindsets. We added Andrew Miller and started out testing. We recorded the sessions and occasionally we’d bring in some musicians with totally different ideas, like Jake Dester and Alex Fraile. While experimenting in every stage of the production, from writing music, recording, session times, inspiration and flow, post-production and so on this made a really exciting product. We decided duplicate it in a cassette form since we all always had wanted to release a cassette.
However the project was halfway forgot when I moved out of Texas and back to Sweden, but now I decided to go ahead anyway because I really enjoy this tape and find it amazing!
If you want to get your copy it is priced 60sek (plus postage) at the moment and just send me an email at ativism (@) oskarforsberg.com and you’ll get it!
Buy it via bandcamp!
Ivan Chaparro created this wonderful project where the movement of the stars on the Stockholm night sky made a scheme for how we would play and dance.
Below is the poster from this project that was played in January and until February in Observatoriet in Stockholm.
Under that is also the video which generated sounds and where projected in the ceiling.
